I’ve been trudging through some old webpages of mine in a bid to collate some photos and pictures that were wiped off the face of the earth, when my old laptop decided it just couldn’t take it anymore.
Don’t i have more important things to do? Er, yes actually. I have a research paper that must be drafted before next Monday, a presentation to do on Monday (my group nominated me on account of my wonderful english accent) final year project work to do for the next six months and general revision/study. But I just had a remarkably stimulating cup of ‘Lazy Noon’ D.E coffee and i’ve just realised its got a helluva lot of caffeine in it which prompts me to either sit here and fidget nervously or aimlessly surf the internet. I am attempting to work at the same time but dammit its tough concentrating. Anyway, I just want to show you some old pictures I found. Family, feel free to reminisce.
This one here is of our trip to Lantau Island all those years ago.
Yeah its a crappy picture and its distorted too. But all the same, aaah memories. I remember the steep tram ride up there, and leaning out the window gaping at the huge Buddha sitting placidly on the mountain. I also remember my uncle challenging Gary to a race up the stone steps (in the background). I think my brother won.
And from the same trip i believe, is this classic photo below
For those of you who don’t know, our village Man Uk Pin in the New Territories literally borders China and the valley basin you see in this photo is apparently Shenzhen territory. Evidently Gary, in a fit of desperation is attempting to flee the sanctity of Hong Kong and go back to the promised land of China.
Actually, the fence you see in this picture is what remains of the ‘border’ on the mountains between the two regions. Pretty eerie thinking about all those immigrants years ago trying to creep through this barbed wire for pursuit of a better life, in the middle of the night, fearful of being caught and beaten by the authorities. I have a friend who’s mother got caught the first time round, she got beaten and she’s had back pain ever since. Eesh.
And one last one for now, memories of mindlessly fun, immature times back at home at Christmas.
This was when all the family were bored, and were twiddling their thumbs back at my house one festive season. So we decided to play Gladiators. Whats it called again, Gauntlet? Anyway we used our corridor, a couple of big pillows, with Trevor, Gary and Kenny doing all they could to push, shove and basically fend off the little parasites Dennis and James from passing them. Ah the good ole days.
Anyway i shall probably find some more later but the effects of the caffeine are starting to wear off and now i’m in the massively emasculating come-down period. Urrgh my stomach. Thats the last time I order a dutch beverage without knowing whats actually in it.
Back to England in a couple weeks, maybe I shall see some of you there 🙂

Good post here kt! maybe you should set up a Law’s collective memory site or something. The gary climbing over to China is good – but you missed the one where rach throws the banana peel over the barbed wire to China…I have that one somewhere.
